How To Animate Slide Objects Using Morph in PowerPoint
Last updated on March 2nd, 2025
In this article, we will learn about the Morph transition in PowerPoint. Morph transition is one of the most interesting transitions available in Microsoft PowerPoint, which will enable us to make animated presentations with fantastic effects. Remember Prezi? When Prezi was launched one of its most impactful features was the animation flow used in presentations. We were all pleased to use presentation slides and the typical flow of presentations advancing slide by slide, until Prezi presentations showed impactful presentations not using the traditional flow. Microsoft learned about this and developed the Morph transition, as one of the most prominent transitions that will help us to animate our presentations in a creative way.
Not Just an Ordinary Transition
While you might have used PowerPoint transitions via the transitions tab, I’m sure you have not used anything like Morph. While it is basically a PowerPoint transition however, unlike common transitions, it can help you create complex animations out of your ordinary slides. You can use Morph in PowerPoint to give movement to slide elements when you switch slides.
Morph can be used to animate text, shapes, images, charts and SmartArt diagrams to provide the audience a transition which looks like an animation, instead of a mere switch to the next slide .
Using Morph to Create Complex Slide Transitions
Step 1: Morph can be used like any other transition, simply select a slide to add the transition to and click Morph via the transitions tab.
Tip: If you’re new to transitions, you can get detailed guides regarding the use of transitions from our tutorial about PowerPoint Transition Effects.
Step 2: Once you have added Morph Transition to a slide, you can choose between different objects to animate in your selected slide by going to Transitions -> Effect Options.
Step 3: You can select Preview from the transitions tab to get an idea about how your slide will look like once Morph is applied.
